Easter Boxes

These are two boxes I made that will be appearing in my daughter and her friend's Easter baskets next week! I have no idea what will be in them, but most likely either Hershey's nuggets or mini jelly beans.

Each box was made using the Matchbox die, cardstock and Sweet Pea Designer Paper. Such an easy way to get a functional item that looks really cute! I hope they like them and I hope you do too!

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Card stock: Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue
DSP: Sweet Pea Designer paper (OM)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue
Other: Chocolate Chip satin ribbon (OM), 1/4" white grograin ribbon, Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (OM), dimensionals

Paper Flower bookmark

I have been seeing these paper flowers everywhere and decided to try some for myself. They are so much fun to make!

First, I punched out six scalloped circles with my punch from Very Vanilla card stock. I then folded, crushed, unfolded, folded again until I got a lot of good texture on each one. You can also spritz these lightly with water to make the folding easier but I didn't in this case. Once all the pieces have been wadded up, carefully unfold each one and lay them on top of each other.

Using my paper piercer, I made a hole through all six layers and inserted a silver brad through the hole and fastened it. Starting with the top layer, I brought up each layer into the center, crimping and folding to make it as tight as possible, repeating with all the layers. After I got all the layers pulled up into the center, I started gently separating the layers back out.

I used two markers, Ruby Red and Cameo Coral and just made random marks into the various layers of the flower. Then I spritzed the whole thing with the shimmer mist I made using rubbing alcohol and Champagne Mist shimmer paint. It is hard to see in the photo but doing that made the marker run a bit, blending the colors together and also making the flower fairly stiff to hold it's shape. It also gave a really nice, subtle shimmer to the flower. Two leaves were cut from Old Olive card stock using the Birds & Blooms die cut.

The bookmark was cut from Ruby Red cardstock using the Two Tags die and my Big Shot. I then stamped the sentiment on the edge using Black Stazon ink, and stamped a flower using Versamark ink for a watermark look.

The flower is attached to the bookmark using pop up glue dots.

Cardstock: Ruby Red, Very Vanilla, Old Olive

Sweet Pea Birthday for the guys

Today's card is another one using Sweet Pea Designer Paper. I love this paper and will be sorry to see it go at the end of April. Can you believe that's next month? Time is just flying by.

ANYWAY, this card has very little stamping on it. I stamped the presents using the Sale-A-Bration set Happy Moments (only available until March 31!) on three scraps of different papers from the Sweet Pea stack. I then cut out a box from each paper and re-assembled them on a piece of vanilla card stock. This is an easy way to get some very detailed "coloring" in your images. It is a technique that works well with line drawings. Give it a try!

I have noticed in looking back through some of my posts that I use the modern label and word window punches a LOT in my greeting cards. I guess if something's not broke, don't fix it! I love the way these two punches coordinate and make it really easy to make a simple greeting stand out.

Stamps: Happy Moments (SAB)
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
DSP: Sweet Pea Designer Paper stack (OM)
Ink: Basic Black
Punches: Modern Label, Word Window
Other: Silver brads, dimensionals

Sale-A-Bration coming to an end

It has been a busy couple of weeks in my house. My daughter was home for spring break and not many cards or other projects got made, much less photographed! But I am heading to my studio this morning before I leave to drive her back to school so I will have some projects posted this week.

Just a reminder that Stampin Up!'s Sale-A-Bration is nearing the end for 2010. This great event comes only once a year so if you have items on your wish list now is the time to buy them. Only during Sale-A-Bration do you get rewarded with FREE stamps, paper and punches for every $50 you spend. Do you have a larger wish list than $50? Me too! The good news is that if you buy $100 worth of product you get 2 free items! Have $300 to spend? Get hostess benefits! You get a free hostess set, $35 in free product and get SEVEN Sale-A-Bration items. All for free! Of course you also get hostess benefits anytime your order equals $150 or more. And you didn't have to do any work. I love this company!

Sale-A-Bration ends March 31st so if you do wish to order something please click through to My Website prior to March 31st. If you prefer me to order for you, leave a comment with your email address no later than March 30th and I'll contact you.

Mod Birthday

Good morning! Today's card is another easily adaptable card. What that means to you is that you can make this card to fit any occasion simply by changing one or two elements to fit your needs. Need a get well card instead of a birthday card? No problem! Just switch the stamp set from Party Hearty to Wellness Wishes (115356). Or if you need a wedding card, try Ever After (113401). You are only restricted by your imagination! So liberating! If you try this card another way, send me a picture or direct me to your blog. I'd love to take a peek!

Stamps: Party Hearty (111532), Seeing Spots (retired- on envelope only)
Cardstock: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Sweet Pea DSP(117161) Occasions Mini
Ink: Taken With Teal, Chocolate Chip
Punches: 1/2" circle (104390)
Other: Chocolate Chip 5/8" Satin Ribbon (117287) Occasions Mini (sidenote: this ribbon is AWESOME and I really hope it is continued into the new big catalog! I can't say enough nice things about it!)

Sweet Pea Birthday

Good morning!

Today's card is impossibly easy and quick to put together. Did you notice that there is only one stamp used on the whole thing?

For this card I simply adhered a piece of Designers Series Paper to the bottom part of my card, crumpled a narrow strip of cardstock for the flower stem, attached the felt pieces with glue dots, and stamped and punched out the simple birthday greeting. To make it even more special, I also decorated the flap of the envelope with the same paper. Quick and easy but oh-so-cute!

This could be switched up by making flowers our of some of the punches and actually stamping some flowers on the bottom of the card. Give it a try and see what you come up with!

Stamps: Happy Moments (118664 wood, 119125 clear mount) SAB catalog
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Rose Red, Old Olive, Sweet Pea DSP ( 117161) Occasions Mini
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Punches: Word Window ( 105090), Modern Label (116630)
Other: Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (117266) Occasions Mini
